Pairing Ideas: Dark crunchy fruit is what you get from this juicy wine that sees stainless steel fermentation, from 80-year-old vines. A pure fruit expression, that is honestly crushable on its own but just as good with a wide variety of foods. I enjoyed a glass recently with beans and rice, with carne asada.
About: Pedro Gonzalez Mittelbrunn is a brave pioneer of modern Prieto Picudo, and is the only producer in the world to produce certified organic Prieto Picudo. The winery prides itself on being a leading light in sustainable wineries and has implemented energy and water-saving techniques.
Easy to distinguish because of its tight bunch. The grapes are oval-shaped with a pointy end. The skin is dark-bluish. The taste and aroma are sweet and intense. Its uniqueness comes from the vineyard’s conduction system. The branches lie on the field which is highly unusual. The pruning is also different, and much harder than usual because you need to kneel down. We call it rastra.
