ABV: 13.5%
Region: Bierzo
Country: Spain
Varietals: Mencia
About: The village of Valtuille de Abajo is the source of this single vineyard called El Rapolao which is planted to mostly Mencía with Bastardo (Trousseau), Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet). One parcel planted in 1920 and another in 1980. This expression is more esoteric and terrior driven example of a single vineyard Mencia.
Pairings: As a varietal Mencia drinks slightly heavier than Pinot Noir and pairs beautifully with roasted pork or roasted beef in a natural jus. Beef Bourgogne with mushrooms & potatoes would be stunning with this wine!
